I kept treating discipline like an endless series of battles. Every morning was a new negotiation — do I work out today? Do I skip it? Hundreds of tiny decisions, and each one drained me.
The shift: decide once. "I train Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 7." Not "I'll try to work out more." The specific decision removes the debate, and the debate was the thing eating all your willpower.
Your brain treats an open question as unfinished business — it will keep reopening the file. A closed decision gets filed as identity: "I'm someone who trains on Mondays." After a few weeks it stops feeling like discipline at all.
Pick one behavior, define exactly when and where it happens, and refuse to reopen the question for 30 days. Don't add anything else until it's boring.
